These crispy baked chicken wings are a go-to around here. They're quick to make, full of flavour, and perfect for busy work-from-home lunches, quiet nights in, or when we're feeding a crowd.

Made with our pasture-raised chicken, which was fed a non-GMO, corn-free, and soy-free diet, these wings are high in nutrients and protein. Nutrition that makes us feel good about feeding it to our friends and family.

The wings are oven-baked instead of fried, yet they still achieve that golden, crunchy skin while remaining tender and juicy inside. The seasoning is a simple mix of Canadian maple syrup, garlic, and smoky spices that adds a rich, savoury-sweet flavour, which will have everyone wanting seconds! So be warned if you don't want to share.

Cook Time:45-50 min
Total Time:1 hr

What You'll Need

For the Wings:

  • 4½ lb of chicken wings
  • 2 tbsp of baking powder (not baking soda!)
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • ½ tsp of black pepper

For the Maple-Garlic Seasoning:

  • 3 tbsp of pure Canadian maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp of soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp of Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp of smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp of cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp of olive oil
  • Fresh ground pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp of finely chopped fresh chives to garnish

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Prep the wings:
    • Preheat your oven to 220°C (425°F).
    • Pat the wings completely dry using paper towels. This helps them crisp up.
    • Toss wings in baking powder, salt, and pepper in a large bowl until evenly coated.
    • Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top, greased with olive oil. (This will help with air circulation so your wings get crispy all around!)
    • Arrange wings in a single layer on the rack.
  2. Place them in the oven:
    • Bake for 25 minutes, then flip the wings and continue baking for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the wings are golden brown and crispy.
  3. Make the seasoning sauce:
    • While the wings are baking, whisk together all seasoning ingredients in a small saucepan.
    • Simmer over medium heat for 3-4 minutes, until slightly thickened. Set aside.
  4. Coat the wings:
    • Once the wings are done baking, transfer them to a large bowl.
    • Pour the warm maple-garlic sauce over the wings and toss well to coat. Garnish with chives and serve.
